Ann Begler

Pittsburgh, PA

Ann L. Begler helps individuals and organizations create the vision and structures essential to forward movement. She is the founder and principal of the Begler Group, a Pittsburgh consulting firm that helps clients build and restore human connection, foster individual accountability, support personal development and culminate in energized and aligned systems.

The insight and skill Ann brings to her clients is built on a long career of personal and professional training and growth. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by her law degree from Duquesne University’s School of Law. After working for many years as a practicing lawyer, Ann completed initial and advanced training in mediation, and later, in various other forms of conflict management processes. In addition to her work in mediation and conflict management, Ann acquired basic and advanced training in gestalt therapy through the Gestalt Institute of New England. She has completed internationally acclaimed certificate programs in both Organizational and Systems Development, and Group Process, each developed by the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. While Ann’s work has always included support on an individual level, she decided to bring her one-on-one work with individuals more into focus by completing the International Coach Federation’s certified training program offered by Teleos Leadership Institute, a consulting firm in Philadelphia. Teleos is recognized as a thought leader in the field of emotional intelligence. Ann is certified through the International Coaching Federation.

Ann was a long-time managing partner of her law firm. Her professional recognitions include being elected as a Zone Governor to the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Chair of the Dispute Resolution Committees of both the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, and an appointment as Chair of a Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ann has served as the Pennsylvania Superior Court’s sole mediator for the Western District, serves as a member of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s (UPMC’s) Mediation Panel, and is a member of the mediation panel for the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania. She is an active member of various other professional organizations.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association has recognized Ann for her career of accomplishments by honoring her with the Ann X. Alpern award for her life long support of women in the legal profession, with the Francis Bacon Award for her leadership in the field of Dispute Resolution, and a Special President’s award for her pioneering efforts in mediation. Most recently, the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania has selected Ann to receive the Conflict Resolution Day Award for her long history of contributions to the field of dispute resolution. The Women and Girls Foundation of Western Pennsylvania has included Ann with a small group of women it has recognized for lifelong work in the field of justice.

Ann left her practice of law in 2000 to devote her full attention to organizational consulting, executive coaching and conflict management. She has consulted to, coached and advised for a range of family enterprise systems, closely held businesses, educational institutions, professional practice groups, health care systems, non-profit organizations, corporations and various segments of municipal government.
